OVERVIEW
The unique Fiber Optic Lab Splice is great for making temporary fiber connections and you can reuse the splice hundreds of times. The Fiber Optic Lab Splice is ideal for use in laboratory and testing environments, where fiber optic equipment must be coupled and decoupled frequently.
To install this fiber optic splice for instrument testing, simply insert a cleaved pigtail from an OTDR or Power Meter to the cleaved unconnectorized fiber to be tested. The Fiber Optic Lab Splice can be used with both multimode and single mode fiber and accepts fiber cladding diameters of 125µm to 140µm.
These FIS Fiber Optic Lab Splices are supplied in blister packs of 6, containing one of each color: watermelon, peach, lemon, lime, blueberry and grape. These Fiber Optic Lab Splices can also be purchased in blister packs of 12, which contain 2 of each color. In addition to Fiber Optic Lab Splices, we can provide Fiber Optic Mechanical Splices and Fusion Splicing Equipment for all of your fiber optic splicing needs.
Note: FIS has a number of Fiber Optic Field Cleavers, as well as our LYNX Precision Cleaver, which are ideal tools for preparing optical fiber for use with the Lab Splice. For your total splicing needs, also see our stripping tools and fiber cleaners.
